Designed for comfortable extended cruising, she combines the spacious accommodations that made the Meridian 490 so popular with numerous improvements that make her stand out from the crowd.

One of her most desirable features is how easy she is to handle. Powered by twin low-hour Cummins 370 HP diesels, she is equipped with bow and stern thrusters and a wireless Yacht Controller, allowing the skipper to dock with confidence from virtually anywhere on the boat.

Cockpit & Swim Platform

Boarding from the generous swim platform, you'll immediately appreciate the three heavy-duty stainless steel boarding handholds that make boarding safe and convenient. The center handhold supports a Magma BBQ while the port handhold carries a fish-cleaning station, creating a practical outdoor entertaining area before you even step aboard.

The fully enclosed cockpit extends the living space and provides excellent protection from the weather. Whether you're entertaining guests, enjoying your morning coffee, or storing wet cruising gear after a day on the water, this area is functional in every season. The 2023 cockpit enclosure keeps the space dry and comfortable while still allowing excellent visibility.

Salon

Sliding open the salon door reveals a bright, inviting interior finished in Meridian's beautiful high-gloss cherry cabinetry. New carpeting throughout gives the interior a fresh, updated appearance while preserving the teak and holly flooring beneath.

To port are two comfortable new barrel chairs, while the starboard side features a spacious settee that easily converts into a hide-a-bed for additional overnight guests. A built-in entertainment center and television complete the living area.

Just aft of the galley is a convenient wet bar featuring an icemaker and generous counter space, making it easy to entertain family and friends whether underway or at anchor.

Galley

The galley is positioned forward where the chef remains connected with everyone in the salon and pilothouse. Composite countertops provide abundant workspace, while the large newer refrigerator/freezer, three-burner electric range with oven, microwave, double stainless-steel sinks, and trash compactor provide all the conveniences expected for extended cruising. Ample storage throughout makes provisioning for longer trips easy.

Accommodations

Moving forward through the companionway, the guest accommodations are thoughtfully arranged. To port is a comfortable VIP stateroom with a double berth, storage lockers, and opening portlight. Directly opposite is the guest/day head featuring a separate stall shower.

The highlight of the accommodations is undoubtedly the owner's stateroom forward.

Unlike a standard Meridian 490, Mama J II has been professionally modified by removing the original small third stateroom, creating an exceptionally spacious owner's suite complete with a dedicated dressing room, custom shelving, and an oversized hanging locker. The result is a master cabin that feels more like that of a significantly larger yacht.

The owner's suite also features a queen island berth, abundant drawer storage, television, diesel furnace controls, and a private ensuite head complete with bathtub.

Pilothouse

The raised pilothouse is one of the defining characteristics of the Meridian 490 and provides outstanding visibility in all directions.

A comfortable captain's chair is complemented by wraparound guest seating and a fixed table, creating an inviting social space while underway. Dual pilothouse doors allow quick access to the side decks during docking or anchoring.

The helm is exceptionally well equipped with dual Raymarine E120 multifunction displays, HD radar, depth sounder, autopilot with wireless remote, Raymarine VHF, Floscan fuel meters, Fusion stereo, spotlight controls, trim tabs, generator controls, and both bow and stern thruster controls. The Yacht Controller wireless remote further enhances docking confidence and makes short-handed operation remarkably easy.

Flybridge

Just a few steps above the pilothouse is the fully enclosed flybridge, protected by a custom fiberglass hardtop and a full canvas enclosure replaced in 2023.

Designed with entertaining in mind, the flybridge offers generous seating for family and guests while maintaining excellent sightlines from the helm. Dual Raymarine E120 displays, VHF radio, trim tabs, and thruster controls provide complete command from the upper station.

Aft of the bridge, the 2016 Walker Bay SLRX 310 RIB is stored athwartships and launches effortlessly using the upgraded 1,000-pound Steelhead davit.
