Oceanis 500 with assumable moorage in New Westminster ‘Fortuna’ is a great vessel for anyone contemplating an extended cruise and wanting all of the comforts of home. Designed by Phillip Briand with a pedigree given to these French built model years he created a very sea worthy vessel with a good turn of speed and easy sail handling systems all complete with comfortable accommodations for extended periods of time. The cockpit is a comfortable place to hang out when in port and a safe place to pilot the boat when at sea. There is a centerline table with folding leaves and at the aft end of the cockpit are two wheels with binnacles. The "sugar scoop” transom allows easy access to the water with added storage and the side decks are wide and easy to negotiate. Large deck hatches allow for plenty of light and ventilation. From the spacious cockpit you go below via a wide set of companionway steps that are easy and safe to negotiate in all sea conditions. The numerous acrylic windows allow in a large amount of natural light. To port is a large dining table with seating for 8 arranged with "U" seating outboard and a centerline settee/island that has access to engine underneath. To starboard is the galley separated from the dining area by an "island" housing the engine. Aft of the galley is a large refrigerator and freezer with the nav station above. The galley is large and laid out in a manner that makes it easy to work in at sea. It features abundant storage, Corian countertops and the island across from the galley contains more storage. There are stainless double sinks and a gimballed Stainless Dickinson Mediteranean 3 burner stove/oven. With the hatch overhead and the opening ports there is great light and ventilation in this area. Forward is a huge owner's stateroom. It is configured with a giant full width bed and the ensuite head compartment has been converted to a hanging locker. To starboard is a walk-in shower. Heading to the bow what was crew quarters has been configured as a stand up workshop and storage area entered thru a large deck hatch or a door from the master and in the bow is a large chain locker. Aft on the starboard side is the single head and on the port side is another shower. Under the cockpit there are mirror staterooms to starboard and port.
